The Rady Shell is music to the ears of San Diegans as the only permanent outdoor performance space and active park on the West Coast. Patrons can walk down the sunset steps and patio behind the stage for awe-inspiring views along San Diego’s Bay. Although this project’s design was pre-determined, CSM coordinates with the architect on any recommendations we have for a well-executed project.
CSM initially joined the project as an installer. However, our role evolved when an external vendor mishandled 40% of the materials, prompting CSM to step in and re-fabricate these crucial components. Our in-house laser cutting program proved to be an asset, granting us the ability to cut aluminum into any design. This capability greatly facilitated our work, particularly when dealing with intricate radii and angles necessary for crafting the shell structure.
Additionally, our laser technology played a crucial role in crafting aluminum components for two smokestacks within the park and the video towers. These tools and our commitment to precision allowed CSM to contribute significantly to the project’s successful completion.
